Behind the Editor's Desk: My Literary Journey

As an avid reader, I’ve immersed myself in both fiction and non-fiction worlds. But my love for books extends beyond reading—I’ve always had a keen eye for spotting errors. For the past 15 years, I’ve been homeschooling my children, which led me down the path of editing and proofreading their work. When my twelve-year-old daughter embarked on her writing journey, I eagerly took on the task of editing her book. The experience ignited a passion within me, prompting me to pursue professional certification as an editor.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of editing all five of my daughter’s published books—a cherished accomplishment. Among all the projects I’ve worked on, books hold a special place in my heart. Whether it’s Inspirational Romance, RomComs, or Fantasy Royals, I relish the opportunity to refine fiction. On the non-fiction side, I’m drawn to Self-help, Emotional Trauma/Healing, Toxic Relationships, Political, and Christian content.

As a passionate editor and book enthusiast, I call the Southwestern region of the United States my home. Here, amidst the desert landscapes and sunsets, I am blessed with a wonderful family—a lively crew of five kids and a grandbaby on the way.

When I’m not meticulously editing manuscripts, I find solace in other creative pursuits. You’ll often find me:

  • Reading: Whether it’s a gripping novel or an insightful non-fiction work, I lose myself in the magic of words.

  • Baking: The kitchen becomes my canvas as I whip up delectable treats—each recipe a delightful experiment.

  • Sewing: Threading my way through creativity, I stitch stories into fabric, creating something beautiful from scratch.

  • Binge-Watching: Family movie nights are a cherished tradition. We huddle together, laughing, crying, and escaping into fictional worlds.

But my heart truly belongs to the sea. My favorite vacation spots? The beach, where the crashing waves compose their symphony, and ocean cruises, where the salty breeze whispers tales of adventure. There, joy and peace intertwine, filling my soul with contentment.

Let’s embark on this literary journey together—editing, creating, and celebrating the magic of words!

Shelley Lynne is extremely insightful and helpful. I spent a great deal of time developing my novel and Shelley provided great ideas for the emotional impact on the characters and finding the message. Now I am currently writing the novel, and she is editing chapter by chapter as I write them.
